- Dishwasher water-intake and drain faults — Miele dishwashers have a waterproof system with a base sensor, and intake, drain-pump or leak faults will bring up a precise fault code. We read it, trace the water path and fix the actual cause rather than resetting it.
- Washing machine drain-pump and door-lock faults — Even on long-lived Miele washers the drain pump, filter and door interlock are the parts that see the most wear. These are the usual service items and are generally an economical, same-visit repair.
- Bearing and suspension wear on high-hour machines — Because Miele washers stay in service so long, they can eventually develop drum-bearing and shock-absorber wear showing as loud spinning. On these well-built machines the bearing job is often still worth it, and we’ll tell you either way.
- Heat-pump and condenser dryer performance — Miele heat-pump dryers slow down and leave loads damp as the condenser clogs and the sensors drift. Cleaning the condenser circuit and testing the sensors usually restores drying performance without major parts.
- Electronic control and heating faults — The electronic control module and heating circuit can develop faults over a Miele’s long life, showing as no-heat, no-start or a persistent fault code. We diagnose the board and heating side accurately before advising on the repair.
Where we repair Miele, and why it is usually worth it
Miele is the brand we are asked about more than any other, and the one whose owners most often decide to repair rather than replace. That makes sense: a Miele washing machine, dryer or dishwasher is a four-figure purchase built and tested for a service life of around twenty years, so a machine that is eight or ten years old usually has more good years ahead of it than behind. Common Miele faults, appliance by appliance
- Washing machine: won’t drain, won’t unlock, F-code on the display — The drain pump, its filter and the door interlock are the parts that wear on a Miele washer, even a well-loved one. A door that will not open is usually water left in the drum, which is a drain problem; we confirm the drum is empty before we touch the lock. Standard repairs, normally done in the one visit. Send us the F-code and we arrive with the likely part.
- Washing machine: rumble or roar on spin — Drum bearings and shock absorbers wear on high-hour machines, and Miele washers rack up more hours than most because they last. Shock absorbers are a Standard repair; bearings are a Complex job. On a Miele that is otherwise sound, the bearing job is often still worth doing, and we will give you the straight number against a new machine.
- Dishwasher: fault code, won’t fill, won’t drain — Miele dishwashers watch their own water path with a base sensor, so an intake, drainage or leak fault stops the machine and shows a code rather than flooding your kitchen — F24, for example, is the heater relay, a one-part repair. We read the code, trace the water path from the inlet valve through the sump to the drain pump, and repair the actual cause instead of resetting it to fail again next week.
- Dishwasher: not cleaning, not drying — Blocked spray arms, a tired circulation pump or a heating fault. These are solidly built machines with a lot of metal and not much plastic, exactly what you want in something throwing hot water and chemicals around every day, so a cleaning complaint is usually one worn part, not a worn-out dishwasher. Clean the filter every few cycles; in Australia you do not need dishwasher salt.
- Heat-pump and condenser dryer: slow, or loads left damp — The condenser circuit clogs with lint over time and the sensors drift. A proper clean of the heat exchanger and a sensor test usually restores drying performance without any major parts. If the heat pump itself has failed on an older machine, that is the one Miele repair we will sometimes advise against.
- Control and heating faults — Over a long life the electronic control module or the heating circuit can develop a fault, showing as no-heat, no-start or a code that will not clear. We diagnose the board and the heating side properly before advising on the repair, because on a Miele the part is worth quoting accurately.
What a Miele repair costs, and whether it is worth it
The same fixed prices as every other brand: $129 diagnostic, then a fixed tier by what the job involves — $139 for a minor fix with no part needed, $209 for one accessible part, $299 when the machine has to be substantially stripped, $459 for a full teardown such as bearings — plus the part, which we quote before we start. Genuine Miele parts cost more than mass-market parts and are matched to your exact model number, so we quote them exactly, never estimate.
Is it worth it? On a Miele, almost always — more than three in four Miele owners who get a quote from us go ahead with the repair, the highest of any brand we work on. A drain pump, a door lock, a set of shock absorbers or a dishwasher inlet valve on a machine designed for twenty years is a small fraction of replacing it, and the machine you keep is the one you already know. Our rule of thumb is the same for every brand — once a repair passes about half the price of a new machine, we tell you so — but a Miele reaches that line far less often than a budget machine, because the machine is worth more and the repairs are usually one part. Where it does not add up (a failed heat pump on an old dryer, multiple parts at once, a board plus a motor), we say so, and you have paid for the diagnosis and a written quote that stands for 30 days.
