Appliance Repairs · Illawarra & Shoalhaven

What a repair actually costs

We publish our prices. Most repairers won’t, and that’s usually because the number moves depending on how long the job takes them.

Ours doesn’t. You pay a diagnostic to get us there and find the real fault, then a fixed price for the repair itself based on what the job involves — not how long it takes. You hear the total before we touch anything.

Fisher & Paykel front-loader washing machine in a customer’s laundry, repaired at home
Every repair happens at your place — no workshop, no carting the machine anywhere.

The diagnostic

Wollongong, Shellharbour, Kiama, Dapto, Albion Park and close-in Illawarra$129
Further out — Southern Highlands, Shoalhaven, Sydney south$169
Second appliance, same visit+$49

The diagnostic is $129 close in across the Illawarra, or $169 further out. It covers the visit, the travel and finding the real fault. If you go ahead, the diagnostic is the first line of your repair price: you’ve already paid it, so you only pay the balance. You never pay it twice. If you decide not to go ahead, you’ve paid for a proper diagnosis and a written quote that stands for 30 days. Nothing more.

The repair

RepairWhat it involvesPrice
MinorDiagnosed, cleared, adjusted or reset — no part needed$139
StandardOne accessible part replaced$209
MajorMachine substantially stripped, or a part behind the drum or tub$299
ComplexFull teardown — bearings, sealed system, multi-hour work$459

Parts are charged on top and quoted before we start. Built-in and integrated machines add $80 because they have to come out and go back in. Only applies when the machine is fitted into cabinetry and has to be removed and refitted. Freestanding machines are never charged this. Stacked laundries and difficult access add $60.

A standard repair: top panel off a front loader to replace the water inlet valves at the back — one accessible part, so it’s $209 whether it takes twenty minutes or an hour.

A real example

Asko front-loader washing machine and matching dryer built under a laundry bench, after a door lock replacement

Asko washer won’t unlock · Illawarra

Door locked shut mid-cycle. We diagnose a failed door lock and quote the fix on the spot. The genuine Asko service kit is ordered in, and we come back to fit it — no second call-out fee.

The $129 is part of the $468, not extra on top. You’ve just paid it earlier.

Replace it instead? New Asko washer $1,799 RRP + $180 delivery and install + $60 to take the old one away = $2,039. The repair is under a quarter of that, and the machine is back for years.

You’d have heard “$468 all up” before we picked up a screwdriver.
